I've installed the project rename tool . However, when I try to run it, I
login as the administrator and can see a list of the projects. I select the
rename option and give the project a new name. It doesn't work and at the
bottom left of the screen I get the message:
Access denied.
You don't have permission to rename this project.
Point to note. Administrator wasn't the owner of the project. I tried
editing the project details in PWA and made Administrator the owner. Same
result.
The installation instructions say if there already PDS extensions
registered, add a new one with regedit and:
6. Type PDSExtensionExN (where N is the next number in sequence), and then
press ENTER.
7. Double-click this new string value, type PDSRights.CPDSRights, and then
click OK.
I didn't have any pre-existing PDS extensions. However the entry that's
created automagically when I run PDSExtensionEX.reg is set to
ProjectRenamer.CMain, not PDSRights.CPDSRights. I don't know if that's
significant or not.
A related question too - if I rename the project is it going to stuff up my
associated WSS site? Intuitively I'd say not because the linkage in Manage
Sharepoint Sites must be on project id and changing the name should be
immaterial. I'm curious to see through if the project name is properly
presented on the WSS screens like Issues etc. I'd guess it will be because
those as I understand it, those screens are generated dynamically and must
extract the project name from the database.
It's not life threatening - I can always save the project as a file, delete
it (being careful not to delete the WSS site) and then reimport it and point
it to the old WSS site can't I?
