Project Server 2002 cannot connect to SQL sharepoint database

We are installing Project Server 2002 and use an existing
database connection on our SQL server (sharepoint
database). We enter the database server and database
name. When we enter the username and password for the
MSProjectServerRole and MSProjectRole we get an invalid
username/password error message.

We can see the connection on the SQL server, and when we
ran the Sharepoint Configuration Wizard.

All suggestions are appreciated.
