Project Server 2003 Administrator Account

Cameron McShane

Hey all

I am currently taking over the management of a Project Server 2003
installation. Unfortunately, the person that installed the server
originally has forgotten the administrator password. Is there a way to
recover/reset the administrator password on a working installation?

Cheers

Thanks very much for your suggestion. Unfortunately, there appears to be
a problem with www.projectserverexperts.com at the moment - for the last
few days it is giving "Cannot connect to the configuration database."
errors. You wouldnt happen to have any other suggestions on where else
this information might be found at all?

Cheers

Complete the following steps to remove the Administrator password:

1. Launch the SQL Server Enterprise Manager
2. Navigate to your Project Server database
3. Open the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table
4. Locate the Administrator account and scroll to the WRES_PASSWORD column
5. Delete the password for the Administrator account
6. Close the Enterprise Manager

When you launch PWA, enter Administrator as the user name and leave the
password blank. You should be able to log in with this account and then set
a new password. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. That worked like a treat. I have another problem
however - when I login as administrator I get the EULA page repeatedly. Ie I
select agree, then click next and it appears again. I have seen the MS
Knowledge Base article regarding this problem
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;837655), however
the solution was not applicable to me. I checked on several machines and
none had any project activex controls installed, and all had the same
problem. I am using Project Server Web Access 2003, and accessing the site
via Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP (on several machines. Any ideas?

Cheers
