Project Server 2003 and Documents

Sasi Atia

This issue rised after a fresh installation
1.
when I log to microsoft project web access 2003 using a
windows account, and I go to the Documents menu, clicking
the Pubilc Documents I receive the following message:
#######################################
The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web
Access use Windows SharePoint Services.
A Windows SharePoint Services site needs to be created for
your project before you can share project documents or
track project risks and issues. Site creation takes a few
minutes, so if the project was just published, wait a few
minutes and then visit the page again. Otherwise, contact
your server administrator.
#######################################

but there is a catch! if i go to:
Admin\Manage Window SharePoint Services\Manage SharePoint
Sites
I'm able to access the Public documents.

2. Creating new projects and publishing them to the
server, the server doesn't create a site for the project?

thanks

Since you are able to access the Public Docs through
another link, it is most probably not a rights issue.

Looks like you're having a problem with connection. Some
items to look at:

- Did you run "ProxyCFG.exe"? Did you use the correct
switches? I tried 3-4 different combinations before I got
it working...
- Is there a firewall between the server and the client
PC? You could have a ports issue
- Are you trying to access STS from within your LAN or
from outside? When accessed from the outside through the
Internet, you 'll need to register STS using a fully
qualified domain name in PWA. (In this case your local
users will have to edit their hosts file or use DNS for
name resolution)
- The user account you use to logon to PWA has to be
assigned rights to manage STS. Once that's done,
synchronize your Admin accounts using PWA's STS Admin page.

That's all I can think of right now...

Good luck

And one more thing... Can you manually create the subweb
for your projects from PWA?

And also, I remember I could not get the subweb creation
working while I was logged on with a Project Server
account. I had to use an NT Domain account to make this
work. Once I switched my PWA account to authenticate
through NT, it worked fine.

Cheers
