Project Server 2003 and SharePoint Portal Server 2003 on the same server

I have several questions about installing Project Server 2003 and SharePoint
Portal Server 2003 on the same box.

From what I have read in other posts the solution seems to be that
Sharepoint/SPS is installed on a different virtual server, leaving the
default server for just Project server. Does Project server HAVE to be
installed on the default virtual server?

I installed Sharepoint/SPS using the SQL desktop engine but I will be using
a remote SQL 2000 server for Project, can that be done? (this is a test box
I installed SPS on a while ago and used MSDE)

Why does project server require SQL server authentication? I would greatly
prefer using only windows integrated authentication.

Also why does it require that the Sharepoint configuration database use SQL
server authentication instead of Windows integrated? Is this absolutely
required?

SQL 2000 has horrible enough security without SQL server authentication.
With it enabled the sa password might as well be blank with cleartext
passwords being passed.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

No, but it's nice for your users if they don't have to specify a port
number.

Depends on what you mean by remote. In the same data center is fine, across
the Internet isn't.

Project Server uses SQL accounts for its internal access to the database.

server authentication instead of Windows integrated? Is this absolutely
required?
