Project Server 2003: How can you permit multiple project managers.

I need to allow multiple project managers to edit the same project plan. The
PM's are in different RBS cells. I understand this is not a good idea, but
these PM's want to do this. Thanks for any assistance.

George,

This should be possible with no changes required to your configuration. PMs simply need to be clear about HOW to do this properly.

When a PM other than the owner of the project updates the plan and they republish those changes to the server a dialog box pops up that asks if the PM wants to become the manager for those changed tasks/assignments. They simply need to answer yes or no depending on your business rules and whether that's what they're really trying to do or not.

What this boils down to, in a practical sense, is who (which PM) will get update notifications when team members submit them. The manager for the tasks will get those notices and also needs to approve the updates submitted on those tasks.

Hello George.

If your PMs belong to different RBS levels they might not see the project
they need to manage.
There are two ways to give them access.

- Add them to the project team, assign them to a task and publich it.

- Add a new category for them. Define a category allowing to see the
specific project, and add it to their permissions.

I hope this will help.

Create a new category that has the same permissions a myprojects and then
change the Projects: Select the projects that users in this category can view

Now add this category to the users that need access to the projects...
