Project Server 2003 not sending any email notifications

Shawn

We have a Project Server 2003 environment up and running but it is not
sending any email notifications. We are using GroupWise, not Exchange. This
shouldn't be a problem right? We can log in to the Project Server and telnet
just fine. We've confirmed the SMTP configuration setting in PWA is correct.
Is there something I'm missing?

When you say no email, is this based on task and project data or risks and
issues?. If it is Risks and Issues you will need to configure SharePoint to
run with mail.
And no, groupWise will work just fine :)
Hope this helps

Marc,

I'm talking about task and project data emails. If I can telnet from the
project server to the smtp server and successfully send emails, can I assume
that the necessary permissions on the smtp server are set? Would relay
permissions allow telnet but not project server?

Hi Shawn,

Generally you dont need to set specific security with Project Server to send
mails. All PS needs is the SMTP Server settings and an email name ( which you
dont need to set up on your mail server).
I would check your mail server and see if you may need permission on the
mail server side.
Alternatafly I would also check that Project Server services are all running
Hope this helps
