Project Server 2007 Accounts lack

Dear all,
in our environment the Ceo asked to create an alias for the PWA to keep
simpler the access to the Project Server (instead of http://servername:5999)
doing this I found this problem, if I go to the resource center, select some
resources and click on Open (with project professional) I cannot open it
because the Project Server 2007 Accounts used the old one, if I change the
address present into Project Server 2007 Accounts with the alias, it cannot
connect either, I think that project professional doesn't query the DNS
server but find it via NETBIOS.

You must use SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration on the project front end
server to create your alternate access mappings so that it maintains the
alias name rather than trying to resolve and replace the alias with the true
server name.

1) Go to SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration on the front end server.
2) Click on the Operations tab
3) Click on "Alternate access mappings"
4) Click on "Edit Public URLs"
5) On the top right dropdown for "Alternate Access Mapping Collection:"
select "Change Alternate Access Mapping Collection"
6) Select your http://servername:5999 URL
7) For "Internet" put in your alias. It needs to be in the format of
http://alias
8) Click Save

You will now be able to type in http://alias/pwa in a browser and it will
maintain the alias url. Also, this is the url your PMs must enter into the
Project Server 2007 Accounts in order to connect to the server via Project
Professional 2007.

Hope this helps.
