Hello All,
Here is what we would like to do, and I am curious if this can be done
with MS Project Server 2007:
Our projects are all built around tasks as they would appear in
Outlook Tasks (not calendar). We would like to coordinate everyone's
actions, and tasks through outlook tasks and not the calendar or
appointments. For example, a project might look like:
1. Email x - Assigned to George
2. Call y- Assigned to Mark
3. Call z- Assigned to George
All of the above tasks depend on the previous, so Mark should not be
able to call y until George is finished emailing x. Ideally, once the
project begins, I would want an Outlook task sent to George's
Outlook. Once he marks it "complete", it is sent to project server,
which fires off the next task to Mark's Outlook. Once he marks his
task as complete, it is sent to project server, and the third task is
fired off to George.
So, the following questions:
1. Can you update the project in 2007 by marking a task as complete?
2. Will 2007 allow you to only send tasks once they become applicable
(for example, I dont want Mark to Call y until George has emailed x) ,
or will it only allow a bulk export to outlook once the project begins
where it sends out everyone's tasks for the whole project?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how this could be done? Thanks
for the input.
Grant
