Project Server 2007 - "Link Item" to Tasks not saving links

I edit an Issue or Document in PWA and click on the "Link Item" button. I
link to a Project Task. The link shows up in the "Links" section. However,
after I click Save the link is gone. If I go back in to edit the Issue or
document, the link no longer shows up.

This appears to be a bug.

This was listed as a bug as part of KB 937908 and included in SP1.

The problem is described as: "You cannot link an issue to a task if you have
more than 100 tasks."

But we have fewer than 100 tasks AND we are running SP1 (12.0.6219.1000) ....

Do you do this linking from the project workspace itself or somewhere else?
It sounds very similar to the issue in the KB article. I have heard before
that certain issues that are claimed to be fixed in a hotfix or in the
service pack, in actuality, do not fix the issue. I have also seen
situations where the description of the issue is not 100% accurate so the
fact that you have less than 100 tasks doesn't necessarily mean the problem
isn't related.

I don't have any suggestions for you other than to open a ticket with MS if
you have the means. If it turns out to be a bug, they shouldn't charge you.

I've seen similar behaviour once. Had something to do with machine
key/validation key between webapplictions. I never solved this, but a new
installation did not have the same problem anymore.
