Project Server 2007 Next approver

Hi,
In our company we were using two level apprval for timesheet. That is the
team member will submit the timesheet to Project manager. Project manager
will approve and sent to Program Manager. Program Manager is the final
approvar. For that I set as the following. The timesheet manager for Team
member is Project Manager. The timesheet manager for Project manager is
Program Manager and the timesheet manager for progrma manager is themselves.
It was working fine. Now the program mangers asked me to set the project
manager are the final approver. So I changed the timesheet manager for
Project manager as themselves. But when the project manager try to approve
the timesheet, it is showing the next approvar box and browse button with
project managers name. If they select and approve the timesheet, it is
showing an error "Timesheet 'My Timesheet', Resource Name, 2008_26 (22-Jun-08
- 28-Jun-08): Next approver cannot be either owner or previous approver " .
Whether I did anything wrong. I added Resource manager security category to
all project managers.

Thanks in advance
arun

We have Project Server 2007 and have the problem that when resource managers
approve timesheets they are prompted for next approver and we don't want to
use that option. They are assigned only to the resource managers group. Is
there another setting I need to check for?

Thanks,
Esther

Please don't post "me too" questions. Your question is worthy of being a
new post all on its own. :)

To address your issue, the Project Server administrator needs to do the
following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions.
2. Click Server Settings - Timesheet Settings and Defaults.
3. In the Approval Routing section of the page, select the "Fixed Approval
Routing" option.
4. Click the OK button.

Hope this helps.

This seem to work for some of the approvals, but we had a team of people move
from one resource manager to a new resource manager. I updated them to the
new resource manager. This new resource manager is being prompted for a
second approver for that team.

Does the timesheet approval look at RBS or any other hierarchy?

Thanks,

No, I do not believe this functionality looks at RBS in any way. I suspect
what you are seeing is default (and perhaps unintended) consequences of
switching a Timesheet Manager value for a resource from one RM to another
RM. I know no way around this annoying little issue, and suspect it might
be a bug or simply a design flaw. Hope this helps.
