Good afternoon,
I have been tasked with setting up a new Project Server 2007 implementation
for our IT Projects Development group. One of my initial duties will include
the setup and configuration of the a medium SharePoint 3.0 Farm to host the
Project Server 2007 product. What will make this complex for me is that I
will not have direct access to the three machines of which will serve as the
SQL server, Application server, and Web server. I will have to issue “very
specific†requests to our internal Server Operations group to have these
machines setup and configured properly. Once this is done, I will again have
to submit “very specific†instructions on the creation and configuration of
the SharePoint and Project required (Microsoft Recommended) corporate domain
accounts into the Active Directory. And, coordinate with the DBA group on
the configuration of the SharePoint content databases…providing “very
specific†information on which of these users have the levels of access
needed for support the SharePoint and Project solution (as recommended my
Microsoft).
I have found some documentation (namely “Planning and architecture for
Office Project Server 2007†) that describes the kinds of accounts that will
need to be created, but nothing specific. What I am hoping to find is a case
study or Project scenario document that explicitly describes what types of
domain accounts (even down to recommended account names) that I can model my
“very specific†requests from.
This is what I have so far…what I really would like to be able to create is
a Pre-Installation Reference Worksheet, that
[Windows SharePoint Services Service Account]
domain\WSSAdminSiteService
[The Application Pool Security Account]
domain\WSSAdminSiteAppPool
or
domain\MSProjectAppService
[Site Collection Owner Account]
domain\WSSAdminSiteService
[Shared Service Provider Administrator]
domain\????
[Project Server Instance Administrator Account]
domain\????
I want to complete this effort in phases. The first Phase being setup a
medium farmed SharePoint environment of which hosts Project Server 2007.
Before this can be done, I will need to provide the necessary domain account
definitions.
Does anything like this exist?
Thanks,
Don
