Project Server 2007 - Queue Report Waiting to be Processed

C

Carlo Rosmini

All,
when we submit and accept a timeshet, always we have some jobs in the queue
with the state "Waiting to be processed". This job are never processed and
look like to be blocked. The job are :

Reporting (Timesheet Status Sync)
Reporting (Timesheet Save)

I think this jobs write the data of timesheets in the report database....

Any Ideas ?
Thanks a lot

Check to see if you have any Timesheet jobs (not *reporting* timesheet jobs,
just the "regular" ones) that failed or are otherwise not succeeding/being
processed. If any of these "regular" jobs failed, that's why the Reporting
Timesheet jobs would not be picked up for processing - because something
happened with the timesheet itself. When you look at the Queue grid, make
sure the History section on the page has the correct timeframe to capture
the original timesheet creation.

If this is not the problem, then make sure your timesheet queue is still
processing jobs. Alter a timesheet somehow (a different one than you are
having problems with now) - something minor is fine, and make sure it goes
through the Queue (either failed or succeeds, but does NOT just sit there
waiting to be processed). If the job IS processed, then your Queue is fine
and I'd need more information to help you. If the job is NOT proccessed,
then your Queue probably needs to be restarted.

Hope this helps,
Sharry

The "regular" Timesheet jobs are processed correctly. Only Reporting
Timesheet jobs don't work. These jobs are in the state "waiting to be
processed", always !
Not in a single timesheet... always, in all timesheet. The queue look like
to work correctly, and is not a problem... i have restart more of one time,
but this jobs are in the same state, instead all other jobs are correctly
processed.
I have checked event viewer too, but all is normal....

Do you have cube building configured? If so, look for cube building jobs on
the Manage Queue page and see if there is one that is maybe stuck somehow.
The reason being that cube building jobs and reporting jobs will not run at
the same time. So if you have a cube building job that is stuck and has
been running for way too long, you should probably cancel it and then see if
the reporting jobs will go through after the cube job is in the "canceled"
state (that may take awhile to happen).

Also try looking for any jobs that have "Rendezvous" in the name of the Job
Type. If any of these are stuck, then this might be a reason that reporting
jobs wouldn't go through.

Other than these two things, I can't think of any other reason that your
reporting timesheet jobs wouldn't be processing if everything else is
processing fine. There really is no reason that would happen, so there must
be something else going on here.
