Project Server 2007 Queue Service Stopped

M

Mr Major Thorburn

Over the past few days I have been recovering from what I believe is a side
effect of applying Office Service Pack 1 as described in KB 936984.
The side effect is that the Queue Service stopped and that in turn stopped
users using the system because their credentials were scrambled by the Synch
with AD process.
I was unable to uninstall the service pack so had to uninstall the project
server and reinstall it.

I was able to reproduce the problem.

My project server is now back online.

Anyone had any similar experience with this service pack and project server?

Regards, Major.

Yes. The Queue service needs to connect to MSFT to retrieve a certificate
post application of SP1. Therefore it needs to be able to access the
Internet. You'll need config Internet Access on the server which is running
the Queue(s). Once the service is up and running, you can remove Internet
access.

Thanks Paul.
The domain userid I used for the service was not authorised to the Internet.
I will try another installation setting the service userid to one that has
Internet access and change it to the one I wanted to use after a succssfull
startup.
It is a shame an event log entry didnt advise me that an MSFT Internet
certificate was not available.

What happens when the MSFT certificate needs renewing?

Here's a better explanation provided from another thread

At the beginning your answer seems to me really weird. But using a sniffer I
checked that the Queue service was trying to contact crl.microsoft.com, that
is, the certificates revocation list from Microsoft. What the service really
wants is the file
http://crl.microsoft.com/pki/crl/products/CodeSignPCA.crl

I guess the question now is why does it need a crl ?

Taking this information, my original explanation is not technically
correct. I'm sorry, I can't provide any further details this.
