Hi there. We installed PS2K7 on a single server (with SQL2k5 Std) in an NT4
domain without any issue. Everything worked (except the Data Analysis views
from PWA on remote workstations, different thread) We thought the larger
implementation would be a walk in the park.
Then we tried a 2 server farm, with the PSWeb/App on one server,
and SQL2k5 std on the 2nd. Again on the NT4 domain.
The Farm Admin account was an NT4 domain user account
The bits laid down fine, but as soon as we went to the SharePoint Products
and Technologies Configuration Wizard, filled out information for the
Sharepoint_Config database, and clicked NEXT, the installation began. Step 2
of 9 hung for a long time, the databases were created(as Mgt Studio
testified), then it failed with the error:
"Failed to create the configuration database..
An exception of type System.Security.Principal.IdentityNotMappedException
was thrown. Additional exception information: Some or all identity references
could not be translated."
Looking through the logs, searching for "error", the first instance of this
word shows this.
"Error when trying to get trusted forests and domains. Exception message:
Current security context is not associated with an Active Directory domain or
forest., callstack: at
System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.DirectoryContext.GetLoggedOnDomain()
at
System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.DirectoryContext.IsContextValid(DirectoryContext
context, DirectoryContextType contextType) at
System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.DirectoryContext.isDomain() at
System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Domain.GetDomain(DirectoryContext
context) at
System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Domain.GetCurrentDomain() at
Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities.SPUserUtility.GetTrustedDomains(List`1
trustedForestNames, List`1 trustedDomainNames) "
So my question is.
Has anyone successfully implemented Project Server 2007 in a multi-server
configuration, in an NT4 domain?
If so, may Santa bring you a solar-powered Hummer, if you are kind enough to
share how in the heck you did it.
Thanks,
