Project Server 2007 - Task Updates

Is there a way (perhap via reporting DB) to determine what task updates are
outstanding across multiple plans. We have a situation where not all PM are
accepting task updates to plans. We need a way to determine what plans have
what tasks updates pending.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry MSPLearner, but out of the box that is not possible. I could image (
but never had to do it), that you could custom develop a component that lets
you see the entire tasks that have been submitted but not accepted. I am
pretty sure that you will not be able to find this information in the
publish or reporting db, since this information only transfers after the PM
has accepted and republished the task update.

You may want to check if you could achieve this via PSI ( Proiect Server
Interface) the Project Server web service.

Hope this helps

Thanks Marc. I kinda suspected this was not out-of-the-box. I think this info
might be derived by comparing submitted/approved time against acutuals
recorded against a Project/Task. If there is a difference, then assume task
updates have not taken place. Need to explore this appraoch further.

MSPLearner,

I had a similar situation here were management wanted to know who was not
updating the tasks, the resource or the project manager. We had a finger
pointing contest and the circular issue of Resources saying "I updated my
task, the project manager didn't update the schedule" versus the project
managers saying "I can't update the schedule because resources haven't
updated their tasks".

So, I used MS Access to create a database and pull all "In-progress" task
records from the RBD every day. I can then check for a delta in the actual
work field from one day to the next to see if an update was applied. I am
able to produce several different reports from the Access DB and provide
management with a starting point for determining who is not following the
updating procedures.

Thanks, I am just catching up on your response. Like you, I use MS Access
extensively.

When you say "In-Progress" task, is this from the Timesheet?
