Project Server 2007 - tasks not showing for all resources

M

Michelle Hotz

I've created a task and assigned two resources. One can see the task on
MyTask screen, the other can not. I've checked Manage User screen and both
are set up the same. The one who can not see the task can see it on his
timesheet. Even after entering time and submitting (set to autoapprove) he
can not see it on My Task screen and also doesn't have the option to Import
timesheet.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Michelle

This is very odd indeed. Ask the user in question to click the Settings
pick list menu button and to select the View Options item on the menu. Ask
him/her to deselect the "Show Only Current Tasks" option and to click the
Apply button. Does the task now appear? Let us know what you find.

Is one "Proposed" and the other "Committed" on the project?

Also make sure that each resource has themselves set as the "Assignment
Owner" for their assignments. You can check this by including the
"Assignment Owner" column in the Task or Resource Usage views.

Thanks - that shows me the problem, I am listed as the assignment owner for
some resources on the task, while others are their own assignment owner. Now
to figure out how that happened. I checked their user set up and they are
all set as their own assignment owner.

Setting them as their own default assignment owner could have been done
after the fact. If you had it a blank for some users before you assigned
them, changing the default assignment owner after the fact will not
automatically update it in the schedules. You'll have to re-open the
schedule, include the "Assignment Owner" field in the usage view, copy the
column the values from "Name" to "Assignment Owner" and then re-publish the
schedule.
