We currently have an expired trial version of Project Server 2007 installed
and we are trying to enter the product key to activate the full version
without success. We are trying to use the Static Activation Key that was
provided as apart of our MSDN Team System licence. We are entering the key
into the Central Administration -> Operations -> Convert License Type page
within WSS 3. This page is generating the following error message 'The
product key could not be validated. Check the error logs for details.'
We cannot see any related errors in either the windows or Share Point logs.
Is there a standard and enterprise licence key? Does the validation process
require internet access? The error message displays immediately so it doesn’t
appear as if there is any attempt to connect to the internet.
Would you please be able to offer us some guidance on this matter?
