Hi there guys,
I think I have stumbled onto an issue for which I see no clear
solution at this stage. The issue is w.r.t. WSS and Project Server
2007 backup and restore operations - and more specifically with site
level backups.
To take you one step back, as I am sure you are aware, the WSS sites
that were created in WSS v2.0 were created as Top Level sites, which
meant you could easily backup and restore them using stsadm.exe.
However, in Project Server 2007 this situation has changed - and i
only realised this morning the impact this might have on us. These
sites are not created as Top Level sites any more, but as subsites in
(normally) the PWA Top Level site. This has lots of advantages, so
its a definate plus - the problem is that stsadm.exe only does backups
with Top Level sites. This means, of course, that I am not sure what
one would do in the result that you need to recover as single site
from a Content DB. I tried yesterday simply pointing another web
application to a restored Content DB, but it did not pick up the
sites. (I did not create a PWA site).
HAve you guys come across this yet, and if so, have you had any
workarounds?
Thanks,
Nico
