Project Server 2K3 and Project Professional 2K3

Our company just recently upgraded its Project Server 2002
to Project Server 2003. However, we encounter some major
issues after the upgrade took place. Some of these issues
are explained below:

1. Whenever a Project Manager creates a new task, using
Project Professional 2003 from his/her local PC, the
person who is assigned (resource name) the task couldn't
see the task from his/her "my task". However, if we do
that using Project Professional 2002, it works fine.

2. The subweb does not generate automatically when a new
project plan is created. Instead we must create a subweb
and its permission manually from Manage Windows Sharepoint
Services sites.

First we thought that by installing Project Server Service
Pack 1 on a server and Project Professional 2003 Service
Pack 1 on Project manager's PC would fix the issues,
unfortunately the problems still persist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Jamal:

Did you install SP1 for all things related to project
server 2003? including

1- Project Server 2003
2- Project Professional 2003
3- Share Point service 2.0
4- SQL Server 2000

That was the know issue and fixed in this SP1. Make sure
you installed SP1 for all thing otherwise it can create
problems.

Although there may be many different reasons for someone not being able to
see their tasks, the most common one is permissions. Check to see if the
resource belongs to the right group with the right permission level to see
assignments. You will need to do that in the Admin. Your next problem is
also an Admin function. Go to the Admin page and select the SharePoint
Configuration page. Toward the bottom of the page you will see a check box
for allowing a sub-web to be created when a project is published. Check the
box and test to see if it works.
Hope that helps.

Ijaz and Russ,
Thanks for responding my post messages. Actually, I
already did what you both have suggested. Unfortunatelly,
the issues still persist.

Best regards,

Hallo,

I finally found the solutions to my problems, although it
doesn't really solve the issues.
Here's what I do to fix issue number 1:
a. Inactive the old account and rename it with a new name
(different than the old one), and then change the windows
authentication to project server authentication.
b. Create new resources.
However, there's a consequence to this: you will lose the
old project plan.

To fix issue number 2, you have to create a subweb and its
permission manually.

Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone out there who
could solve my problems above entirely, not just work
around it.

Best regards,
-jamal-
