Hello,
a quick question.
do you need to install sharepoint with MS Project Server? Can i install MS
Project Server without sharepoint? i have another application on the server
that needs SQL case sensitive. Sharepoint does not like this. but I do not
see any limitation on MS Project Server ad case sensitive.

any help would be appreciated

You need Sharepoint if you want Project Server to manage Risk and Issue
lists in Sharepoint for you but that is just a convenient option. I don't
think you need a Sharepoint server for anything else.

Just a clarification -- I had heard from a few people that Project Server
made use of Sharepoint for more than risks & issues but wasn't sure if that
was urban legend or not.

A few other posts here indicate that Sharepoint services are required on the
server... but to the best of my knowledge you don't need to do anything
specific with Sharepoint in order to run Project Server. It's possible that
someone in our IT group did set something up without us asking... so bottom
line is take the last answer with a grain of salt ;)

Hi Greg,

Project server uses Sharepoint for Risks, Issues and Documents. If you
would like to work with that, I think that you need to install
Sharepoint.

I'm no technologist, but it's our experience that most of the things
that look optional are actually needed to run Projectserver properly.

I can categorically state that you DO NOT need WSS to use Project Server
2003. It is purely optional if you - like the other people said - want to
use Issues, Doc's and Risks. Although, i have to add, that WSS is quite
powerfull, and you can do a host of other things with it which you might
find interesting...

:)
