Project Server Authentication Problems in a Mixed Desktop Environm

Our company has two basic configurations of user desktops. The first uses
Novell with local user authentication. The second uses Novell with domain
authentication. The second desktop authenticates to PWA and with the Project
Pro Application just fine. That is because the server is on the domain and
the users are logging into PWA and Project with their Domain accts. I want
the other users to use domain accounts to log onto the server but when they
try to specify that Project uses their domain accts to log on, Project seems
to grab the local user account and presents that to the server and
authentication fails.

I tried to convert the whole thing to SSL so that I can use the Log on as
another user option. That seems to work for PWA but not for Project itself.
When I tried to convert the sites to SSL, I had to generate a certificate and
the clients now get a message asking them to accept the certificate. Is that
the problem? Should I get a certificate from VeriSign or something to get
project pro working again? Please help.

Anton,

For those users NOT authenticating to the domain, if they are running WinXP you can setup credentials in Control Panel>User Accounts>[Select local login name]>Manage My Network Passwords.

We use this configuration quite successfully for users NOT authenticating to the domain during machine login.
