Project Server conneting to Sharepoint problems

B

Bryan

I've just installed MS Project Server. In connecting to a Sharepoint
I'm getting an error that "The specified Web server is not extended with
Windows SharePoint Services or it is not accessible wia http protocals."

When I go to check it seems all the sites are extended. Any thoughts?

Hi Bryan,

A couple of questions...

1. Can you log in to Project Web Access?
2. Can you access to the SharePoint Site by itself? For example, type
http://<ServerName>/site/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments where
<ServerName> is the name of the server where you created the SharePoint
Site.
3. In looking at IIS Manager, how many web sites are listed and what are
the names?

Get back to us when you have a chance
More questions to come later... <g>

going further if u are able to see to WSS using the link
http://<ServerName>/sites/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments

then u need to check the WSS user credentials using PSComPlus.exe utility
located in Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Project Server 2003\Bin\

Note to Rolly:

When this question was first posted in a SharePoint newsgroup, the text was
slightly different and said specifically when connecting to *SharePoint
Portal Server*.

I don't know if that affects your answer, but just in case.

At the moment I presume you are assuming "SharePoint" in the text means the
more normal (in Project Server installations) WSS.

Hi Sandeep,

If you can view the PublicDocuments site then there is no need to change
the WSS credentials using the PSComPlus.exe utility. The site is created
automatically during Project Server setup using the WSS credentials you
needed to supply.

So all would be good if you can access this site.

Thank you Engelbert!
It does make a big difference

Bryan,

Here's a link to the TechNet Support WebCast:Integrating Microsoft
Project Server 2003 and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896711

"This Support WebCast presents the integration points between Microsoft
Project Server 2003 and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The
WebCast reviews the integration between Project Server 2003 and
SharePoint technologies as they are installed the first time. The
session also discusses several extensibility scenarios. These include
indexing and searching across all Project Server Web sites and using the
Project 2003 Web parts in a portal page."

I think this will help you identify the problem

If you have further questions, post them here and we'll do our best to
help you out.

Cheers,

Sorry, I've been gone a bit and am back working now. I'm going to try the
suggestions today. It is not for PORTAL, but for the normal install.

Hi Bryan,

A couple of questions...

1. Can you log in to Project Web Access?

Yes. No problem. AAMOF I'm at the stage in the MSO Project Server 2003
Installation Guide pg 130 where it asks me to "Synchronize the Public
Document Site" I logon to PWA, click Admin, choose Manage WSS, Save changes.
That's where I get this error msg.
2. Can you access to the SharePoint Site by itself? For example, type
http://<ServerName>/site/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments where
<ServerName> is the name of the server where you created the SharePoint
Site.

Yes! I didn't know it was already there, but sure enough. I can click on
Issues, Risks, etc. Was this created when I somehow published one of my
projects? I can't seem to publish any more, nor was I ever able to get to
this site for that one project. I can go to PWA and see it, but when I try to
get to 'this' site from there it says I can't.
3. In looking at IIS Manager, how many web sites are listed and what are
the names?

Default Web Site - which is what I used during setup for Project Server
Miscorsoft SharePoint Administration
SharePoint Central Administration
