Project Server Custom codes not pushing out to SQL

J

Jay

Before any of you folks start your response with "you are posting to the
wrong group" I would like any one of you to locate the MANAGED Project
Server 2003 group and send me the link. The key word in the previous
sentence is MANAGED. I have been going round and round with the Concierge
service and they can't find it either. They said to post here.

Now for the problem.

Single server running Project Server 2003 sp1, sql 2000 sp3, Sharepoint sp1.

We have a project whose custom outline codes are not being pushed to table
projectserver.MSP_VIEW_PROJ_TASKS_ENT. All values for other projects are
there but this particular project has no values. When you open the project
in the fat client you see the values. We are using custom codes: Enterprise
Task Outline Code1, 2 and 3.

We have deleted the project and republished it 4 times with the same results.

Other projects are not having this issue. What could be causing the problem?

Hi Jay,

The links below are for the MS Office Project Server product.
The 'concierge' service is an MSDN overlay of monitoring for a number of the public newsgroups. MS's public newsgroups are peer
supported with some monitoring. The only newsgroups that are generally staffed as a group are the MS Partner ones through
http://partner.microsoft.com Beyond that you're generally into the paid or subscription support from http://support.microsoft.com

You may want to also post to the SQL and/or Sharepoint (portal server or services?) newsgroups on news://msnews.microsoft.com as the
issue may be related to something that wouldn't appear to be obvious from the project side, but that may be 'oh one of those
problems' to the folks on the SQL product side.

Hello Jay,

From the post log, this seems a Project Server 2003 issue. Please post it
on the public newsgroup: microsoft.public.project.server. In that
newsgroup, you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and so
other customers and partners who regularly read the newsgroups can either
share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.

I also notice that you are suggested to submit your question to Managed
newsgroup. As I know, Microsoft Managed Newsgroups provide assistance for
break-fix situations that are not time critical, our newsgroups are staffed
weekdays by Microsoft Support Professionals to answer your Microsoft
systems and applications questions. Managed newsgroups only provide
services for the following partner level.

Gold Certified Partner
Certified Partner
Registered Member

You can follow the instructions below to access partner newsgroups:

1. Navigate to http://partner.microsoft.com
2. Click Sign In icon on the web page
3. You need to sign in there with credentials accepted by the Microsoft
Passport Network. For example, (e-mail address removed)
4. If your .NET Passport account is not recognized in the Microsoft Partner
Program, you need to complete your program enrollment in order to be
recognized as a partner on the Microsoft Partner Program website.
5. After completing your program enrollment, you can now use the Managed
newsgroup.

For example, if you are a Registered Member, you can click Technical
Support > Registered Member on the left pane, then click "Microsoft Manage
Newsgroups" link on the web page.

Hope this helps.

We have support contracts with Microsoft that is the reason I am posting on
THIS MANAGED NEWSGROUP. Without a proper subscriber ID (which I have) I
wouldn't have been able to login. As part of Software Assurance and the 3
million dollars we have recently paid Microsoft we are all entitled to
Technet Plus among other things. Here is a copy of the email Microsoft
Software assurance sent me:

"Welcome to Microsoft Software Assurance enhancements. As a Software
Assurance customer, your organization is eligible for enhancements which can
help you get the most value from up-to-date technology. The Microsoft TechNet
Plus benefit is one of these enhancements and you have been selected as the
Benefits Contact:

Your Software Assurance TechNet Plus benefit details are outlined below and
you may access online services by following the instructions below. As a
Software Assurance customer, your organization is eligible for enhancements
which can help you get the most value from up-to-date technology.

TechNet Plus includes all of the benefits of TechNet Online Concierge Chat,
as well as access to Managed Newsgroups. TechNet Online Concierge Chat offers
one-on-one, Web-based assisted search chat sessions between Microsoft online
advisors and users. With Online Concierge Chat, an online advisor can help
you quickly locate the information you need to troubleshoot technology
issues. Managed Newsgroups provide timely answers to your technical questions
from industry colleagues. Microsoft support professionals monitor the
newsgroups to help ensure accuracy.

How do you access the TechNet online benefits?

You can access TechNet Online Services by following the steps below.

1) Go to http://members.microsoft.com/technet/common/.
2) On this page, log in to the Microsoft .NET Passport service. If you do
not have a .NET Passport account, you will need to create one.
3) When prompted, enter your TechNet Software Assurance Subscriber ID and
your last name, as detailed below.

Your Subscriber ID: TSA500xxxxxx (I removed for security)
Your Last Name: Mirxxxxx (I removed for security)

As I said at the beginning of my post I don't want to get into a discussion
as to whether this is the proper newgroup to post on. I've been fighting
this with you folks for over 6 months. THERE IS NO PROJECT SERVER NEWSGROUP
ON THE MANAGED SIDE I DON'T KNOW HOW ELSE TO TELL YOU. Here is the link to
the managed newsgroups
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/managed/dgbrowser/en-us/default.mspx
see if you can find Project Server anywhere in that list. I have reported
this up the Microsoft support chain and nothing is being done about it.
Everytime I post something I have to spend 3 days arguing with you until
someone actually gives me an answer to my issue. Once again I challange
anyone to find the MANAGED PROJECT SERVER NEWSGROUP and I will be happy to
repost this problem there. If I post to the Public Project Server Newsgroup
I will get the same response that I recieved that last 5 times I did it...
Nothing!

Now is someone going to answer my question, as you are contracted to do
within 24 hours, or do I need to escalate this through my Benefits
Administrator.

Hi Jay,

The newsgroup you posted on is part of the news://msnews.microsoft.com *public*, peer support newsgroup set. You posted to it
through a tailored web based interface client and 'us folks' includes anyone who can access these groups through a newsreader or a
browser and they're mirrored on quite a few 'non-MS' sites that 'claim' them as their forums/message boards.

Based on your ID and login MS gets 'flagged' (concierge) for certain posters. The managed (MS participation) newsgroups are the
partner ones mentioned and there is a MS Project newsgroup in the Partner groups mentiond.

Note in the quoted email you provided it says that the newsgroups provide information from *indsutry colleagues*, not necessarily
from Microsoft.

I think the issue may be what you are expecting 'managed' to mean and what the managed newsgroups are (i.e. monitored). :) The
folks in the MS Office Project newsgroups, including the Project.server newsgroup in the link I provided to you in an earlier
message are generally helpful, and it's a good resource. Whether you choose to use it is of course, your decision. None of us
non-MS folks are saying we're part of MS Technical support service, which is a separate service and have no contract <g>.

Good day!

Please note that as a part of his TechNet Plus subscription you do have
access to a set of managed newsgroups. At this time, there is not a
newsgroup for Project. You can request one to be added by going through
the TechNet team at:
https://support.microsoft.com/common/survey.aspx?scid=sw;en;1223&showpage=1&
ws=technet&sd=tech&pa=managednewsgroups

We have also responded to you through the ContactUs web page team and
provided this information that the Project product is currently not
supported through a TechNet nor MSDN managed newsgroup. If you would like
one to be added, please request it through the link provided above.

At this time you are welcome to post to the public newsgroup for project
that has already been suggested here or give support a call to open an
incident for more immediate resolution.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards,
