Hi,
We have recently installed Project Server 2003 (with Windows Sharepoint
Services and SQL Server). The problem is that whenever Project tries to load
or save data to the project server we get the following message:
Connection failed:
SQLState '01000'
SQL Server Error: 52
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect())
Connection failed:
SQLState '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or
access denied
After clicking OK this message can reappear any number of times from 1 to 7.
Then a dialog will appear asking for details of the database (server, login
etc). 'localhost' is selected in the dropdown but when we choose
'OFFICE-SERVER' which is the name of the server where project and sql server
are, it works fine.
The next time we save we go through the same process like it doesn't
remember where the database is.
This problem seems odd to me because I would have thought that Project
Server dealt with the database and wouldn't ask the end user (our Project
Manager) about it. From the Project Server's point of view the database IS on
localhost.
No errors appear on the servers event logs or in the sql server logs.
I'm very confused - can anyone help?
Thanks very much
Andy.
