Project Server Default Catergories

C

Chris

Hello.

I'm new to our Project Server team and have a quick question for anyone.

Project Server has Default categories as listed:

• My Organization
• My Projects
• My Resources
• My Tasks
• My Personal Projects
Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 creates five default categories during
installation. Each of the categories is configured to be accessed by
specified default user groups. Each category has a predefined set of
permissions for default user groups that have access to that category. The
following sections list the default settings for each category for this
Office Project Server 2007 release.

I can't see the, My Organization, My Projects, My Resources, and My Personal
Projects anywhere on the site. I do have the web part, My tasks. But
checking permissions and available views, for some reason these other views
are not available.

Thought I'd run this by you guys. I've got to get those views for our team
but it's giving me a migraine. :) Any ideas why I can't see them?

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question, do
the following to view the security Categories in Project Server 2007:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions.
2. Click the Server Settings link in the Quick Launch menu.
3. In the Security section of the Server Settings page, click the Manage
Categories link.
4. To view the settings for any Category, simply click the name of the
Category.

Since you are so new to Project Server 2007, I would strongly encourage you
NOT to change any of the settings in the default Categories until you fully
comprehend how they work. Also, you can also view the settings for the
default Groups in Project Server 2007 by clicking the Manage Groups link in
the Security section of the Server Settings page. Hope this helps.
