Project Server imeplementation - do we need Professional?

B

Beth In Alaska

We are a small non-profit who scored a copy of project server donated by
microsoft (thank you MS) and for now, we plan to use this to track our
workplan and related work for the year. Its not particularly complex -
there aren't alot of dependent tasks and there are only 12 employees.

Later, I will be using project to manage a large scale IT project involving
several organziations. How much later? I don't know - whenever i find
money!!

I did NOT purchase a donated copy of professional at the same time, not
realizing I might need it. I'm still somewhat unclear as to why I would
need it with project web access. Does it do much more? What sorts of
things? Can we make due with PWA for now? Should I add project
professoinal to my budget this year (cycle coming right up)

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi Beth,

Yes, in order to create projects which will be stored on Project Server,
the Project Manager will need Project 2003 Professional. The resources
and others will access the Project server through PWA, but a copy of
Project Pro is needed to create the projects.

See the following link for information about the "Core Products" needed
to work with Project Server.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
