Project Server Migration.

I have installed a stand alone installation of the trial of Project Server
2007 for one of our departments. It is fairly certain we will purchase the
product Q4 07 or Q1 08. When the time comes, will we be able to import all
data into a production Project Server that uses a separate installation of
SQL 2005? I have seen the section on technet "Migrate Project Server 2007 by
using built-in tools'", but am concerned about the statement 'you can backup
but not restore a configuration database.' Is this type migration possible?
Is it supported? Has a procedure been published?

Thanks for any info.

The configuration database refers to database that holds the WSS3.0
configuration information. The actual WSS data is held in a different
database, and the Project server data is held in another 4 databases (4 per
PS instance).

Since you will be building a new server farm, then a new config db will be
created. You can attach an existing WSS data database to the new farm, and
also move the PS databases.

Document the test env well, including accounts and passwords. If you are
moving from SQL Express to SQL 2005 then you might have issues, I saw issues
going from MSDE to SQL2005 which was to do with WSS authentication. If all
else fails, the wss data can be migrated out anyway.

In short, what you want to do is possible without data loss.
