Project Server Publish Permissions

R

Ryan

I'm using WSS 3 and Project Server 2007
Users can't publish reports. They can save them to the server, but
publishing results in an error. I can publish (I'm the admin) but even when
I add one of my users to the admin group he can't.

TIA.

You aren't giving us nearly enough information to troubleshoot this issue.
For example:

1. What error do you see?
2. Do you see errors in the Queue?
3. Have your PM's ever been able to publish a project?
4. Have you changed the default permissions in Project Server in any way,
particular for Groups and Categories?

Let us know and we will try to help.

Sorry for the lack of info, Dale. I just got the error message from a user
today:

1. "You do not have sufficient permissions to publish this project to
Project Server"
2. There are no errors in the queue
3. no, not on this server
4. no

I'll double check what the default permissions are for the groups and
categories they're in... maybe I've just made a bad selection.

Based on answer #3, something is VERY wrong with your system. Are your
project managers members of only the Project Managers group in PWA, or are
they members of other Groups as well (such as Team members)? If they are
members of multiple Groups, remove them from ALL other Groups except for the
Project Managers group. Does this solve the publishing problem?

Are you the only person with Administrator permissions who has access to the
Project Server system? If not, could someone else have changed some
permissions in the system without telling you? For example, did you have a
consultant install the software and configure your system?

Beyond these questions, let's try some steps and let's see if we can find
out what is wrong:

1. Log into PWA with Administrator permissions.
2. Click the Server Settings link in the Quick Launch menu.
3. Click the Manage Groups link in the Security section of the page.
4. Click the link for the Project Managers group.
5. In the Categories section of the page, select the My Projects category.
6. In the Permissions for My Projects data grid, is the Publish Project
permission set to Allow? If not, set it to Allow.

Let us know the answers to all of these questions and we will continue to
try and help.
