Project Server question

I have been tasked to verify some info for my boss. My boss wants Microsoft
Project Server implemented in our organization. He was told that in order to
do this we would have to purchase an additional stand alone server for
Project. My question is lets say we have 250 people who will use Project
Server.. Should an existing server be able to cover that? Or is it just a
case that Project server has to be run on its own server.

If you partition the EPM components into virtual servers (VMware ESX), you
can run it on one server today. If someday, more CPU horsepower is needed it
can be easily scaled out to multiple boxes.

If you really want to impress your boss, you should try Virtuozzo.
Virtuozzo only requires 1 Host OS instance of MSFT 2003 Enterprise or
Standard Server. One of the main benefits to Virtuozzo is that you can
add virtual servers WITHOUT incurring any additional OS licensing
costs. Therefore you need not worry about the amount of people
utilizing Project Server. You can simply create additional
VPSs....email me if you would like to download the software for
evaluation at (e-mail address removed) or visit our website at
www.sw-soft.com for more info.
