Project Server queue and check-in

G

Girish

I am openng a project on Project professional 2007 connected to Project
server 2007 and after I save and close the project, the project is not
getting checked in. It shows up in the queue and is not getting processed. I
tried the Force check-in option and that is also remainnig in the queue.
Since I am on a single server I restated the queue service, which helped
clearing some other items in the queue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Girish,
A client of ours is having exactly the same problem. It is extremely
frustrating for them. They are also having problems with MS Project
crashing. Are you having similar problems?

I noticed the server crashing after a long idle time! Also I had the Project
professional (client) installed in the server which was crashing every other
minute. Once I installed the client in a different system it seems to work
fine.

There are some issues around check-in which may be related to closing
project before the save has completed through to the server. Best practice
is to save and wait for the message in the status bar (at the bottom of the
Project pro screen) to save the save has completed. Then to close the
project and select check-in when prompted (not exit from Project
Professional) and finally Exit from Project Professional.

If you project doesn't get checked in then a current workaround is to open
read-only, and then close again and this will process the check-in.

Using force check-in will not make any difference as this only adds another
job to the queue which will not get processed while the project is in the
state.

Brian,
I think that would have happened as the server and client was in the same
system and the client was crashing.

Thank you for the response.
