project server queues

Does anyone have experience with the project server queues in Project Server
2007? If so, do you know how those work, and if they are file-based (is info
written to a folder on the project server?) We have are having performance
problems with the queues since putting on Symantec for anti-virus. It may be
that Symantec is scanning the folder used for these queues – but that depends
on how the queues work. Any insight?

The Queues transactions are soley with SQL, so I'd be surprised if AV is
causing the issue. If you disable AV does the performance return to normal ?
