Project Server Setup

I installed Project Server 2003 and IIS on the same server and setup
ProjectServer to point to an external SQL Server. Web based authentication
into IIS seems to work O.K. and I can function in the web client. I DID NOT
install Windows Sharepoint Services Components (not sure if we needed that
functionality).

When I attempt to connect a Microsoft Project Professional 2003 Client into
the Project 2003 server using Tools, Enterprise Options, etc... and then I
perform the connection test function, I get the following error:The server at
'http://agfhqrt10.intranet.agf/ProjectServer' returned the following error to
Project.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method
(HTTP verb) was used to attempt access.

This is a 405 error. I have seen the recommendation to check the ISAPI web
site to see if Anonymous login is turn on and it is (as it is on the default
and Project Server websites).

Does anyone have any ideas on the source of the problem? Does Sharepoint
Services HAVE to be installed to get Project Professional Client to work?

Is the URL pointing at the correct location (i.e. ProjectServer)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Gary,

Thanks for the response, but in my posting included "Web based authentication
into IIS seems to work O.K". The user I am using was setup with Windows
Authentication and was done just fine.

I found a solution to the problem, but not sure why it happened in the
first place. Another user had a similar problem and posted that he had the
change the Home directory setting for "execute permissions" on the ISAPI site
to be "Scripts and Executables" (not just scripts).

I tried that and it did not work, then tried it on the Default Web Site and
it corrected the problem. This make some sense, Project Prof must have been
trying to execute some code ( VERB in the error message) on the IIS server,
but IIS permissions were not allowing it.

Hope this helps some other person in the future.

Thanks,
Jeff
