Setup:
2 x Project Web Servers (NLB)
2 x Project SM and VP servers (NLB)
1 x 2 node SQL Cluster
All running Windows 2003 SP1, Project Server is running SP1 (yes i know!).
We have 2 x Servernames for the Web servers obviously, and a virtual server
name - which we dont want the users to use. We want the users to use our DNS
name lets call it epm.domain.com
Project Server is fully functioning using that URL. However, we are having
problems getting the Sharepoint sites to automatically use the DNS name
(epm.domain.com)
While the URL works if you manually point at the sites - e.g.
epm.domain.com:90/sites/projectserver_359/ when you are in a Project and you
click documents it goes to the Virtual server name.
We have tried using the DNS name in the sharepoint setup screen but it
errors saying that its an invalid servername or something to that effect.
We have a call open with MS about this via our consultants, but I wanted to
know if anyone out there had accomplished this already in an easy fashion.
The reason we cant use the virtual server name is down to the fact that 500+
people would have to add it to their trusted sites, where they already have
the DNS name in there.
Please if you have anything to help with this, it would be appreciated, we
are right in the middle of the go - live effort (going fully live in the next
few hours).
Thanks in advance.
