Project Server Spooler Error when Publishing Projects

T

Tom Kelly

When publishing project plans I am getting a spooler error
with the following details

SYSTEM ERROR: 0x80004005

According to a MS Knowledge Base article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;328249
this is due to security configurations on the following
folder %INSTALLDIR%/BIN/ViewDrop. I have tried the
proposed solution but it didn't help. Has anyone else
encountered this problem?

Additional Info:
The KB also mentions Novell Clients as an issue. We aren't
using Novell but we do connect through Citrix. I don't
know if this is the problem though as this is a new
problem.

Also,
I checked the Event Log on the Project Server and found
repeated error messages similar to the following

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog
Provider
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2
Date: 9/17/2003
Time: 7:46:58 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: XXXXXX
Description:
Component: PjMsgHlr
File: C:\Proj10
\WebClient\source\server\pjmsghlr\MsgHandler.cpp
Line: 375
Error Number: 0x80004005
Description: Assert Detected. The error code was also
included.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Tom:

Make sure that MDAC is upgraded to the latest version on both the server and
the client. Sometimes that helps.
