Hello,

We are looking at moving from a virtual to a stand alone server environment
for our MS Project server 2007. We are currently in Service Pack 2 with the
April CU. The issue we are running is speed. It takes approximately 14
minutes for us to save and publish a project in both virtual and stand alone.

The unique thing about our projects is that they are multi-year projects and
some are scheduled to end around 2012. Is anyone familiar with slow downs
that are caused by having multi-year projects in a server environment? If
so, is anyone of a fix that might help with this?

Thank you in advance for you help.

Hi,

We have the same problem of multi-year projects when publishing them to
Project Server 2007 SP2.
I reported this problem to MS support in Japan and they said they already
recognize it.
But they gave us no workaround.

Regards,

You have a number of tools at your disposal, including the following:

1) defragment your database tables
2) reindex your database table indexes (indicies?)
3) break the plans into smaller parts and add project level codes to
reassemble them logically
4) add memory to your server
5) update the OS and hardware to 64-bit and add even more memory to
your server
6) add network interface cards to your server
7) break the server down into multiple servers

Any of those help? Let me know if you need any clarification with any
of those.
