Project Summary Task Durations

I have a project plan that was started from scratch. I have the normal
Summary tasks followed by subtasks. I have entered all of my subtask
duration but the plan is not 'rolling up' those durations for me and
calculating my summary task durations. is there a setting I need to make to
make this roll-up happen?

Hi,

Rollup of durations is calculating the difference between first start and
last finish.
If there are two tasks tomorrow, each during one day, total duration of the
two is only tomorrow, be it one day.
Work on the other hand is a scalar and totalled by Project.
Hoiep this helps,

Thank you for the response - I understand how it SHOULD work - what I am
saying is that in this particular project plan that this calculation of the
summary task duration is NOT happening - and I am not sure why. Is there
some setting that needs to be set to make this happen?

Hi Mary Beth,

- In tool, option, calculation, is calculation set to automatic?
- If yes, did you ever see a messge about a circular relationship?
- Do other calculations go on as usual?

Jan,

Thanks you again for your response. I do have calculation set to automatic.
Other options set in this window are:

Updating task status updates resource status
Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Office

There are no circular references.

It appears that other calculations appear to be working as expected.

Hi Mary Beth,

Then we need the big artillery.
Can you send me the file?
