Project task field not populated in a customised project view

We've recently upgraded to project server 2007 and I'm trying to create a
project view that displays the Unique ID for each task. As this field is not
one avaiable when creating a new project view I decided to use a formula in
the task field Number 1, setting it to [Unique ID]. The field looks correct
when I view it in Project Professional however after publishing the project
and then looking at it from the web access project view, although the Number
1 field appears it is not populated. I've previously used Enterprise task
fields and these appear no problem, it's just the project task fields that
don't seem to work. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I've tried
re-publishing the schedule. I thought perhaps the fact that it was a formula
was a problem so I simply then copied the contents of the Unique ID field
into another task field Number 2. This doesn't work either. Any help would
be very welcome!

Sounds like you are confusing task fields and project fields. If it displays
the task UID then it is not a project field so do not expect it to show up
in a project field. It should only be visible when looking at the tasks.

Project Server 2007 had some fields with calculated and custom fields as
well. Make sure you have the latest service pack and that your projects are
being published.

Thanks for your prompt reply. No I'm not confusing task and project fields -
I was trying to differentiate in my question between task fields in a project
and task fields that you can set globablly in the Enterprise global.

I can see the Number 1 field properly populated against each task in the
schedule but not when viewed in a project view on project web access. It
definitely picks it up because it even changes the name of the Number 1 field
to the name I gave it in the schedule ("Unique Task ID"). You could set an
Enterprise task field but I didn't really want to do that - this was a
specific request from one particular manager for their specific project.
We've installed SP1 and I've republished half a dozen times trying to get it
to work - what else am I missing? Further help or tips would be grateful
received!
