project tasks not showing in MyTasks

I have assigned tasks to other resources within MS Project 2007. When I go
to PWA to view My Tasks, I see the tasks to which they are assigned. They don't see the tasks assigned to them when they log in to PWA-My Tasks. I am using Server 2007 and SP1 has NOT been installed.
How do I get these tasks set up so that the resources assigned to them know
that the tasks belong to them?

Tasks Assignments work a bit differently in PS 2007. There is a new field
called "Assignment Owner" which can be set on each task assignment in
Project Pro. Include it as a field in the Task Usage View.

There is also a field associated to each resource now called "Default
Assignment Owner". If you don't set this field to be the same as the
resource (by leaving it blank), then each new assignment you create as a PM
for that resource will by default set you the PM as the "Assignment Owner".
This is why you see the assignments and they don't.

For existing task assignments you will have to go to each project and copy
the resource name to the Assignment Owner field and re-publish.

To prevent this in the future for new tasks assignments, you need to make
sure all resources have the default assignment owner set to themselves.
This auto populates when you create a resource from PWA but not if you
create it via Project Professional. And for existing resources you have to
set it one at a time via PWA which is very painful.

This has been a great help. I don't have it working 100% yet but I can see
I'm on the right track. Thank you!

Hi,

I have kind of the same problem on PS 2003. Resources do not see tasks
assigned by me on PWA. On their PWA Home page, they do not have any "new
tasks" assigned to them.

Thanks for helping.

Have you actually published the assignments in the project using
Collaborate - Publish - New and Changed Assignments? If so, is there a
chance you set these resources using the Proposed booking type? Click
Tools - Build Team from Enterprise and check the Booking value for each team
member. You must use the Committed booking type in order for team members
to see their task assignments in the View My Tasks page. Let us know what
you find.
