Project was unable to log you on at this time...

DC

Hi Guys,

I'll get straight to the point:

Project Server 2003 is installed on:
- SBS 2003 Premium SP1 w/ SQL 2000 SP4
- SP1 applied to Project Server.

SBS boots clean: no errors or warnings in Event Log.
All the apps on the SBS are working correctly including Project Server.
EditSite shows no errors.

The problem:

If log in on any of the servers/workstations on the network as Admin, I can
log in to PWA w/ Admin crudentials w/o any problems.
Now, when users try to access PWA they get right of the bat on the PWA login
page:

"Project was unable to log you on at this time because the Project
Server database cannot be accessed. Please try again later or check with
your Project Server administrator. (5001)"

And Event Log on SBS shows:

I did install 6 times already w/ the same final results. Tried it w/ SP1 and
SP2a and w/o any of them. SP2a seemed to introduce one more issue, so it was
dropped.

Any ideas?

Sounds to me like you have not correctly defined the MSProjectUser and
the MSProjectServerUser userids to SQL Server, or perhaps their roles.
In the Project Server 2003 installation guide there is a chapter
regarding the setup on the server including the definition of the
various userids needed. As I recall there is also some tooling to check
for these userids and the correct permission settings in the appendix
of this guide. You might want to check the SQL log to see if there is
any indication of a problem with these userids. Finally, as Mr. Glen
has pointed out you should consider posting to the alternate newsgroup
as your post will in all probability be seen by more people. Good luck
