project web access outlook add-in language mismatch

M

Mr Major Thorburn

On one of our pilot project users laptops we get the following error message
when outlook starts up. The other users are ok.

Project Web Access Outlook Add-In - Fatal Installation Error
The language of the Project Add-in for Outlook must match the language of
Outlook. Uniinstall the add-in and reinstall a matching language version.

I have tried to find any differences between this system and the other that
are working but have not been successful.
We are configured for English-UK.

Anyone any ideas?

Regards, Major. (Major is my Christian name ;-)

Hello Major
This occurs if the primary editing language of Office does not match the
LCID of the Outlook Addin. You can work around the problemby adding a reg
key (this one is for english) -
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\ProjectServer.12]
"Language"=dword:00000409

Searching this news group should bring up other posts on this item.

Ben, Thanks for that hint.
I checked and that key is in the registry.

I had searched the news groups but did not get any hits.
I guess I used the wrong keywords. Could you suggest a few so I may search
and see if there is any other suggested solution to this problem?
Regards, Major.

Ben, thanks for that search hint.
I did the search and it looks like at least one other person has the same
problem as I have in that the registry setting is there but the problem has
not been solved.

Hello Major,
Other than asking you to recheck the primary editing language of Office
(this is set via the language settings tool) to make sure it is the same as
the LCID of the add-in, there is nothing more that I can add, other than that
it may be worth raising a call with MS.

Ben, I confirm that the office language setup is the same and have even tried
changing it to US-English but got the same error.

I will need to seek advice about raising a call to MS as I am not sure of
our support agreement with them.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards, Major.

There seem to be 3 places for language settings. Two of them are in the
"regional settings" area of the Control Panel. The one that worked for me in
the end was the one under:

Start | All Programs |Microsoft Office |Microsoft Office Tools | Microsoft
Office 2003 Language Settings | Enabled Languages (tab) | I needed to set
English (U.S.) in the Choose the language that defines the default behavior
in Microsoft Office applications option.

Hope that this helps.

Regards,
George

Mr Major Thorburn

George, that was most helpful, thanks.

It showed up a difference in the test laptop. That system has Microsoft
Language 2007 setup. The base version of office is 2003 and at the moment I
am not aware of any available copy of office 2007 so am surprised to see the
2007 in the title.

I will check with our systems support guys.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards, Major.
