The Installation Guides from Microsft are very detailed and clear and give
for each different configuration (single-server etc.) exactly what and when
you need to do to install SQL Server: WSS and Project Server itself.

The extranet part of the question I'll leave to someone else.

Bita:

In order to reach anything across the Internet, you need a valid IP address.
With that said, it's not particularly practical to use Project connecting to
Project Server across the Internet. It's better to provide this through
terminal services as Project doesn't perform well over low bandwidth,
high-latency networks. For Project Web Access only, you might find
performance acceptable.

The installation guide describes how to expose Project Web Access to the
Internet. You can find more information on Terminal Services on
Microsoft.com.
