Project Workspace for project in PWA

Hello,

I have a question regarding the project workspace that is created when you
publish a project, is there anyway to display a gantt Chart of the project as
a whole, similar to what you would see in MS Project in that site?

Thanks

Sure, you would either need to add the Project Details Webpart to the page
after it is created, or if you are the administrator, modify the template
site to include that Webpart.

To add it to the site: Site Settings (top right) > Edit Page > Add Webpart

Many Thanks,

if a user has read only rights will they still be able to see that webpart?
Or do they need a certain level of rights from the PWA site?

Thanks

They'll need the rights to that specific view on that project in Project
Server. They should also have a Project Server Client Access License (CAL)

fyi only, some have experienced issues with webpart deployment. In my
experience, this only works if your project server workspaces site is in the
same collection as PWA (same top level site).

Yeah, there's a hack you need to do when deploying Webparts to a non-PWA site
collection (adding some code). Then you need to deploy the Timesheet Webpart
first to the target site before any of the other Webparts will work.

As long I follow those steps, I haven't had issues. There's a blog post
somewhere that documents this - may also have been in that MSFT white paper
that came out a month or so ago about MOPS/MOSS integration.

See I tried that tingo with TimeSheets but it still doesn't work for me..For
some users it did. Not sure what the difference is.
I found a few posts on that issue and I'm not the only one who can't get it
working & it's too difficult to get help on this via web forums etc due to
complexity of the diagnostics. At the end of the day the web part is not
designed to do what I need it to and I just hope that next gen of PS
addresses it better as my farm will only grow and spread on to more sites
rather than consolidate.
