Project Workspace Technical Requirements & Specifications

Hi,

We are considering enabling Project Workspaces in our MS Project Server
implementation. It is new to me, and I would like to understand where these
spaces are created, what sort of administrative tools are available to manage
resources (hardware, disk space, etc), whether the workspaces must reside on
the same box as the server, and so on.

Is this information available? I an only find functional information from
searches so far.

Thanks,
Tom

You're basically asking a SharePoint question here, and would be best served
engaging the services of a skilled SharePoint and/or Project Server partner
to help you in implementing this.

That being said, my recommendation would be as follows:

1) Provision a new site collection in the farm, preferably in its own content
db. Set the appropriate governance policies around this site collection
in terms of size, etc. How big do you expect it to grow?
2) Provision the workspaces in the new site collection.
3) Modify the webparts so they point to your main PWA URL. Here's some instructions:

If any of that sounds complex or difficult, you probably should look into
engaging a consultant.

My pleasure. There's a lot of gotchas around deploying SharePoint without
implementing the appropriate governance structures.
