DOes anyone know of a Project2002 viewer free or
shareware. Several years back a tool called Schedule
Insight could read Project 98 MPX files.

Rob,

I did review the link you suggested, but still didnt see
any viewers. Proj2002 allows for Excel export, and HTML
output buts its far cry from the way the old Schedule
Inight 98 viewer works. Were did the snaphsot (camera) go
any ideas???

Stevereno,

You did see the specific FAQ 16 at
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm#Project Viewer? There it says
there is no viewer but provides guidance.

It's published as a FAQ as this is FA-ed as lot.

Ideas:
- review again this Answer 16.
- The "camera" is still there in Project 2002. It's on the "standard"
toolbar.
- output views/reports to paper or Adobe PDF -- (I find this best when
in role of PM then I can most easily communicate the message I wish to
convey).
- save as "html" to make web page outputs... again, do as part of a
managed process to communicate project information.

I resist and try never to release source project files, and would always
resist temptation to let others "view" with a Viewer or their own copy
of Project.

There is a new project planner available here called "Plan for
Windows":

http://www.twiddlebit.com

It can read and write Microsoft Project MPX and MPD files. There is
also a Pocket PC version which allows projects to be viewed and
updated on a Pocket PC. It isn't strictly just a viewer since you can
also edit projects and then save them back in Microsoft Project
format.
