Projector Display Problems Powerpoint 2007

I'm running office 2007 trial version and when i plug my dell latop d610 into
a projector to view a powerpoint slideshow the display zooms to 400% and
won't advance slides beyond the second slide in the deck. It then sounds
like a key on the keyboard is being held down as it dings incessantly.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Any workarounds?

Wow, this is odd.

The fact that you're getting the keyboard sound thing makes me think you're
getting an error message that's keeping things from moving forward.

This doesn't happen when you're not plugged into a projector, correct?

You might try updating your video driver and also changing hardware
acceleration.

This will sound weird, but I'd make sure you have an updated printer driver
installed. There have been some odd crashes and / or display issues with PPT
2007 that track back to printer drivers. (Can't remember the details,
though, sorry.)

Oh, wait -- try uninstalling the alps touchpad driver. See the last post at

This does not happen when I am unplugged from the projector (after a reboot).
The alps touchpad driver was not installed when this initially manifested
itself (it now has been installed - and doesn't want to let me deinstall it!
- but that's another issue. )
I will try your other suggestions but this was a brand new install with the
latest drivers (allegedly) due to a harddrive crash and replacement.
Thanks
