Projects Saved Offline

Hello,

I am trying to work with a Project plan offline. I am saving the
Project plan offline after opening it from the Project Server. I then
close Project Professional and reopen it in Work Offline mode.

It is at this point that I cannot open the Project plan. I have the
last 4 files worked on listed, and when I select the one that has been
saved offline, I get the following message.

'You selected a project that was saved to Microsoft Project Server.
Microsoft Project is unable to open the selected project. You
selected a project saved to Microsoft Project Server while you are
offline, or you selected an offline project that has been deleted. To
open projects saved to Microsoft Project Server, close and then reopen
Microsoft Project. In the Microsoft Project Server Accounts dialog
box, click the account, and then click Connect to establish a
connection with the Microsoft Project Server.'

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or can somebody identify what
I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

This typically occurs when you are using the "Work
Offline" feature and connecting to the "My Computer"
option in the "Microsoft Project Server Accounts" window.

To make this work, you will need to select the server you
connected to, then click the "Work Offline" button.

Now, when you do a File->Open, the projects should open
just fine.

I didn't select the Project Server instance in the Project Server
Accounts dialog box before clicking Work Offline. I can see and open
the file that is saved offline when I select the correct instance of
Project Server and then clicking Work Offline.
