ProjRenamer tool - problem with links projects

Description: The Rename Project tool enables Project Server 2003
administrators to rename a project, or multiple projects, stored in the same
SQL Server database.

Behavior: We have renamed projects that have multiple cross project links
to other files. Now that the file name is changed, this linked project name
is appearing as " File Not Found" notifications and the links are now
broken.

Expected behavior: We expected that all the project names in all the tables
would be changed. This should not have effected the projects that were
linked.

Corrective Action : What is the process to correct the broken links where
the project names have been changed? We do not what to have to redo all
the file links again.

Risk/Impact: High - This issue will cause alot of rework and engineering
hours
to correct all the project links that are now broken.

The database is keyed on the project names, so while the renaming tool makes
renaming projects possible, something that you couldn't easily do before its
introduction, it's far from a panacea. You'll either have to reset these
manually or develop a SQL script to fix them for you. If you're in a
situation where projects need to be renamed frequently, a good strategy is
to setup a rigid naming structure for the project name, and create a custom
Enterprise Field to hold your "friendly changeable name." Set up your views
in Project Server to display the friendly name and let your PMs change the
name at will.
