Promps for fields?

D

Dianah

I have a document with a table. I've put in fields [fill-in] and added
prompts and saved the document as a template.dot.
I then open it to create a new document, but the fields don't prompt me. I
know they are there.

What am I missing? I used to do this a long time ago ... in WordPerfect ...
it was called a keyboard merge, but I know that Word does it differently.

Can anyone help? Thanks. Diana

Better to use a userform:

Doug,
I'm following the steps, but right away ... the first one isn't quite right.
(I'm working with Word XP - does that make a difference).

When I go to Tools, Options, View and select bookmarks, the bookmark simply
looks like a large capital I. Just like use see after the word capital.
The example in the instructions looks like an opened, then closed square
bracket.
I'll continue anyway, so that I get the gist of the rest of it.
Thanks

Have a single space selected when you insert the bookmark and it will then
look like [] rather than I

I didn't know about that. Sorry I didn't read your posting sooner - been
busy with other stuff.
Thanks for the response, Doug. I'll do that.
