Prompted for file location of msi file during Office 2000 update

I installed Office 2000 Pro from a CD to a directory other than the default.
When I try an Office update I receive the error "The feature you are trying
to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. I am
then promted for a path to the data1.msi file. I cannot find a DATA1.MSI on
the CD or my local drive. This happens regardless of and Internet update or a
downloaded update. TIA.

Data1.msi is the core file on CD#1 of all MS Office 2000 series
products. (Try using Start=>Find/Search to look for
files named Data1). The file is not moved to the harddrive
during installation.

When you're asked for the CD check the box in that
dialog that says 'use feature from' to see what specific CD is
being requested.
